After bankruptcy cases have been closed, they are subsequently (approximately one
to two years after closing) shipped to and stored at the Federal Records Center (FRC).
Cases closed by the court’s Cincinnati divisional office in June of 1991 or later, or by the Dayton office after August 9, 1993, or by the Columbus office in February of 1993 or later, are stored at: Federal Records Center 3150 Springboro Road Dayton, OH 45439 (937) 425-0629 All other closed cases are stored at: Federal Records Center 7358 South Pulaski Road Chicago, IL 60625 (773) 948-9000 To review and/or request copies of court records stored at the Dayton or Chicago FRC, you will need the following information: FRC Accession Number FRC Location Number Box Number Case File Number Case File Name This information is available from the Bankruptcy Court divisional office where the case was closed. To review the case file record at the Dayton FRC site:
After obtaining the information (above) from the Bankruptcy Court, you must schedule an appointment with the Dayton FRC by calling 937-425-0629 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. (weekdays only). Individuals wanting copies of documents in the file they have reviewed may obtain either certified or uncertified copies. (Costs are 50 cents per page and an additional $6.00 per certification.) Please note that the Bankruptcy Court will require a retrieval fee of $45.00 (which must be paid before the record is requested from the FRC). It should also be noted that in the event there is more than one bankruptcy case bearing the same debtor name, it is the responsibility of the requestor to determine which case should be retrieved. Once the file is retrieved, it may be reviewed at the divisional office that retrieved it. Additional fees of 50 cents per page will be charged for copying documents, and $9.00 for the certification of each document. Retrieved cases will remain at the clerks’s office for a period of 10 working days after receipt from the FRC and then be returned to the FRC. Any further retrieval of such a case will require an additional retrieval fee. | ||
