The Federal Judiciary has implemented a nationwide centralized attorney admissions and e-filing registration process in all appellate, district, and bankruptcy courts.
How to Register
To file documents using the Court's CM/ECF system, you must take the following steps.
- Register for a PACER account.
- The Court does not maintain user names and passwords for the CM/ECF system. Access is established and maintained through PACER.
- If you registered for an account prior to the Court's NextGen upgrade (July 6, 2021), you must link that account to your PACER account before you can file electronically.
- Request filing privileges for the Ohio Southern District Bankruptcy Court through PACER.
- Indicate the nature of your registration. You may select among the following options:
- E-File Registration Only. If you are an attorney who has been admitted to the Southern District of Ohio, or if you are an individual requesting filing privileges on behalf of an entity (such as a creditor or financial management course provider), select this option.
- Pro Hac Vice. If you are an attorney seeking pro hac admission in a case under Local Rule 2090-1(b), select this option.
- Federal Attorney. If you are an attorney employed by a federal agency, select this option.
Please note that non-attorneys who do not file on behalf of an entity (such as a creditor or financial management course provider) will generally be unable to register for electronic filing privileges and must submit documents conventionally at intake.
Processing by the Court
When your request for electronic filing privileges has been submitted through PACER, it will be forwarded to the Court for review. The Court will review your request within 24 hours. If you need emergency assistance, please contact the Court.
Non-federal attorneys who are seeking to register must be active in their state's bar and admitted to the Southern District of Ohio. For information on admission to the Southern District of Ohio, please visit their website.
