CM/ECF includes several reports available to electronic filers. Some reports are specific to a case and can be accessed through the Case Query while others allow you to search across cases filed in the district. The following is a summary of how these reports can be utilized.
Case Query
To access the Case Query, click the Query link in the CM/ECF navigation menu. You can search for a case by case number, by the debtor's name or social security number, or by file date, among other options. When a case has been selected, the following reports are available for selection:
Basic Reports
The Docket Report, Claims Register, Associated Cases, and Deadline/Schedule reports together allow you to review the case docket, claims that have been filed in the case, any associated cases (e.g., adversary proceedings or related cases), and any deadlines or hearings set in the case.
Party Reports
The Alias, Party, Trustee, and Attorney reports will provide detail about parties appearing in the case and each party's representative, if any. Much of this information will also appear at the top of the docket sheet. The Filer report will provide a list of parties who have filed documents in the case. Clicking on a particular filer will reveal all documents filed by that filer in the case.
Creditor Reports
The Creditor report will provide a list of creditors that were added to the case in CM/ECF. If you would like to produce a mailing matrix for noticing purposes, the following reports are available:
- List of Creditors: This can produce a list of creditors in the case in a "3-column" (PDF file) or "raw data" formats (pipe-delimited text file). The 3-column display can be printed on labels for mailing.
- Mailing Matrix by Case: This is similar to the above report, but allows you to include various case participants in addition to creditors. This report will only produce the list in the 3-column print format.
- Rule 2002(a) Mailing List: In cases where limited notice outlined in General Order 56-2 is not in effect, this report will output a list of case participants and all creditors. In cases where limited notice applies, this same report will list case participants and, rather than all creditors, only claimants in the case.
Claims Register
The Claims Register report allows you to limit claims filed in a case to the type of creditor, the name of a creditor, or a file date range among other options. Claims can be sorted by claim number, creditor name, or file date. When the claims register is loaded, the claim number will be linked to a PDF file of the claim and any supporting documents.
Other Reports
Several other reports are available in the Reports menu in CM/ECF.
- Cases: This can produce a list of cases filed in the Southern District based on case chapter, case file date, the name of an attorney or trustee, among other options. The resulting display will provide summary data about the selected cases along with links to view more detailed information about each case.
- Docket Activity: This can produce a list of filings across all cases in the Southern District based on office location, case type, and entry date, among other options.
